Athol:
Joseph L. Mosher, 73 of Athol Rd., passed away peacefully, Thursday morning, January 9, 2014 at his home.
Born August 16, 1940 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Harold and Viola(Burch) Mosher.
Joe was a lifelong resident of the area and enlisted in the US Army in 1964. Upon his return from serving his country, Joe married Virginia Goodnow on Dec. 17, 1966. The couple raised their family while living in Warrensburg and moved to Athol in 1986.
Joe began his working years spending 10 years with Taylor Welding, Glens Falls Hospital for 12 years and retired from the Thurman Highway Dept after 13 years of service.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, following NASCAR and spending time with his family.
Besides his parents, his sister, Carol Germain, half sister, Susan Harrington, and half brother, Michael Mosher; his step mother, Luella Mosher have all predeceased him.
Survivors include his beloved wife, of 47 years, Virginia of Athol; two children, Ronald Mosher of Athol, and Venena Kennedy and her husband, Milton of Athol; his brother, Wes Mosher; half siblings, Betsy, Susan, Darlene, Tammy, Harold, Vern, Ricky; grandchildren, Anthony Rawson and Sierra Kennedy and other family members .
A funeral service to celebrate Joe’s life will be conducted 6 pm Sunday, January 12 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg with the Jeff Grant, Pastor of the Kenyontown Methodist Church officiating.
Friends may gather one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Spring burial will take place in the Reynolds Cemetery, Thurman.
Memorials may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
