Obituary of Dortha G. Wells

Queensbury: Dortha G. (Alger) Wells, 67, of Zenas Drive passed away Friday, December 20, 2013 at her home, with her loving family at her side following a courageous battle with cancer. Born September 17, 1946 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Althea Alger of Queensbury, and the late Elmer Alger. Dortha was a dedicated employee at C.R. Bard for many years. Besides her father, Dortha was predeceased by her husband of 25 years, Philip A. Wells in 1998, and a sister, Marie Ann Lettus. She is survived by her beloved mother, her daughter, Melissa Ann Wells and her companion, Michael Bollettieri; four grandchildren, Emilee, Claire, Philip, Elijah, all of Cobleskill; and a brother, Raymond F. Alger and his wife, Teddi of Hudson Falls. She also leaves behind several aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Dortha’s family from 11 am to 1 pm, Monday, December 23, 2013 at Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 1:00 pm, following the visitation, with Pastor Pamela Mikel-Hayes of the United Methodist Church in Cobleskill officiating. Dortha’s earthly remains will be interred next to her beloved husband in the Bates Cemetery in the spring.
