Obituary of Joseph L. Galusha

Johnsburg: Joseph L. Galusha, 66, of South Johnsburg Road, passed away peacefully, Friday, January 28, 2011 at the Adirondack Tri-County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness. Born July 7, 1944 in Loon Lake, he was the son of the late Leon and Estella (VanGuilder) Galusha. Joe was a lifelong resident of the area and enjoyed fishing, hunting and taught many relatives the art of trapping. Before his disability, Joe was a painter and iron worker by trade. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Eugene Galusha. He is survived by his three sons, Leon Galusha and his wife, Jill of Thurman, Bill Galusha and his companion, Jennifer Whitaker and her son, Daniel of Thurman, Max Galusha and his companion, Kim Mercure of Coldchester, VT; one granddaughter, Bethaney Galusha, three grandsons, Kyle, Andrew and Travis; siblings: James Galusha and his wife, Norma of Thurman; Myrna Rhoades of Boca Raton, FL; Richard Galusha and his wife, Kathy of Warrensburg; Georgia Kenyon and her husband, Rick of Thurman; sister in law, Norma Galusha of Moreau; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Joe’s family from 5-7 pm, Monday evening, January 31st at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A memorial service to celebrate his life will follow the visitation at 7 pm Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Heart Association. Joe’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Michael Layden, Dr. Dan Way and the staff of the Adirondack Tri-County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
