Obituary of Marie C. McKinney

Warrensburg: Marie C. McKinney, 83, of Lake Ave., passed away peacefully in her sleep, Thursday, December 21, 2017 at The Glens Falls Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation following a brief illness. Born October 3, 1934 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late George and Irma (Van Liew) Beaudin. Marie was a graduate of Bolton Central School, Class of 1953. Her brother, George Beaudin, introduced Marie to the man who would become her husband and lifelong partner, Robert A. McKinney; the couple wed on June 19, 1955 at the Church of the Messiah in Glens Falls. They settled into their home in Diamond Point in 1962, where they resided for the next fifty years, and celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary before Bob’s passing in 2014. Throughout the years, Marie was employed by The Glens Falls Ins. Co., Lake George Bowl, and the Lake George School cafeteria. While raising her children, she was a Girl Scout Leader and a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Lake George, as well as past Director of the Hudson Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Association Ladies Auxiliary, FASNY Ladies Auxiliary, and a lifetime member of the Lake George Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, Marie is predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert McKinney, a daughter, Lynn McKinney, a grandson, Thomas McKinney, Jr., and a brother, George Beaudin. Marie is survived by four daughters, Joan (Steven) Sady of Warrensburg, Donna (Brian) Engle of Warrensburg, Patty (George) Schuster of Lake George, and Barbara (Chris) McGuirk of Charlotte, NC; one son, Thomas (Leisha) of Lake George; her beloved grandchildren, Christopher (Penny) Kilmartin, Barry M. Johnson, Anna (Bill) Chapman, Bryana Engle, Jessica McKinney, Kyle and Kory Russell, and Jacob and Jonathan McGuirk; four great-grandchildren, Wills and R.J. Chapman, Joshua and Lynessa Kilmartin; granddaughter-in-law, Rita McKinney, brothers-in-law, David (Joan) McKinney of Glens Falls and Thomas (Sally) McKinney of Hudson Falls. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Marie’s family from 11 am to 1 pm, Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 1 pm, Wednesday, at the funeral home with Rev. Jean DeVaty of St. James Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Lake George, where Marie will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, daughter, and grandson. Pall bearers will be her grandsons, Christopher Kilmartin, Barry Johnson, Kyle and Kory Russell, Joshua Kilmartin, and Jacob and Jonathan McGuirk.
