Please share a memory of Conroy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Warrensburg: Conroy Joseph Webster, 72, of Elm Street, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, Saturday, February 16, 2013. Born July 21, 1940 in Warrensburg, he was one of 13 children of the late Marcus and Pearl (Denton) Webster. Conroy attended Warrensburg Central School and was a lifelong resident of the area. He wed the love of his life, Grace LaCourse on December 23, 1961; together the couple raised 5 children. He began his career as a meat cutter at Oscar’s Smokehouse and continued on in the business as a professional for 47 years. Upon retirement, Roy put his love of woodworking to use in his shop, “Roy’s Busy Bee”, where he created beautiful handcrafted furniture and picnic tables. He touched the lives of many people as he always had a story for each customer that visited. He loved the World’s Largest Garage Sale, never missing the event, and bringing a smile to many faces as he stood outside and chatted with the passersby. His talent for woodworking has been passed down to his boys who will carry on the tradition. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by two sisters, Sylvia Ann Webster-Moffitt and Aletha Fish, and three brothers, Douglas, Henry, and Marlyn Webster. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Grace Webster of Warrensburg; his children, Elizabeth Collier of North Creek; Joseph C. Webster of Owego, Richard Webster and his wife, Patty of Warrensburg, Edward Webster and his wife, Kristine of Warrensburg, and Timothy Webster and his wife, Lisa of Queensbury; ten grandchildren, Richard Webster II, Nichole Webster, Sarah Collier, Nathan Webster, Jordan Webster, Caleb Collier, Bobbi Webster, Molly-Kate Webster, Joshua Collier, and Logan Webster; four great-grandchildren, Alexis Edwards, Autumn Barrett, Kaiden Burk, and Savanna Collier. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, who he fondly referred to as “Moonshine”, Ruth M. LaCourse; four sisters, Nancy Belden of Bolton Landing, Martha Kilburn of Wilton, Linda Bennett and her husband, Frank of Warrensburg, and Debbie Stevens of Queensbury; three brothers, Wesley Webster of Newington, CT, Delbert Webster and his wife, Joan of Stony Creek, and Charles Webster and his wife, Cathy of Warrensburg. Friends may call on Conroy’s family from 11 am to 1 pm, Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church, 3802 Main St., Warrensburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 1:00 pm at the church with Fr. Paul Cox, officiating. Rite of Committal will be conducted in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Glens Falls Hospital Renal Center or High Peaks Hospice. Conroy’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Hoy and the nurses at the Renal Center, as well as the staff at Glens Falls Hospital for providing such compassionate care during Roy’s long illness, and St. Cecilia’s Church community for their support during this difficult time.
