Obituary of Lena L. Allard

North Creek: Lena L. Allard, 87, of Old River Road, passed away peacefully, Monday, January 21, 2008 at the Adirondack Tri-County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in North Creek following a short illness. Born May 16, 1920 in Saratoga Springs, she was the daughter of the late Remi and Lucy (Weed) DesJardins. Lena married Joseph Allard in 1941. In 1946, the couple moved to North Creek where they established permanent roots. She worked as a waitress at the former Pierson’s Tavern in North Creek, before being employed by Greater Adirondack Home Health Aides where she was recognized for over 25 years of outstanding service. Lena was a very involved member of her community. She was a past president of the Gore Mountain Senior Citizens, and enjoyed volunteering at the local food pantry and delivering for the Meals on Wheels program. She loved to travel, was an avid Bingo fan, and enjoyed Backgammon. Besides her husband who passed away in 1995, she is also predeceased by her sister Agnes. Survivors include her two sons: Raymond and his wife, Gwen of Mendon, VT; Terry and his wife, Rae Lynn of North Creek; four grandchildren: Scott, Cherie Ferguson, Skye, and Terry of North Creek; four great grandchildren, Brittney, Courtney, Patrick Prouty, and Aaron Ferguson; one brother, Raymond DesJardins of Saratoga Springs; several nieces and nephews and her lifelong friend, Nancy Dupuis of North Creek. Friends may call on Lena’s family from 6-8 pm Friday evening at the Alexander Funeral Home, Inc, 4479 State Rt. 28, North River. A memorial service to celebrate her life will follow the visitation at 8 pm Friday at the funeral home. Spring interment will take place in North Milton Cemetery, near Saratoga Springs.
