Obituary of Althea E. Monroe

North Creek: Althea E. Monroe, 76, formerly of North Creek, passed away, Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at the Glens Falls Hospital. Althea had been a resident at the Indian River Nursing Home in Granville for the last year. Born November 16, 1932 in Johnsburg, she was the daughter of the late James and Cordie (Russell) Dalaba. She was a lifelong resident of the area, whose favorite pastimes included gardening, canning, fishing, crocheting and spending time with her family. Besides her parents, her son, John E. Monroe and her seven brothers, Erwin, Preston, Cleyon, Gerald, Grover, Sheldon and Glenn Dalaba and three sisters, Mildred Dalaba, Ruth Robinson, and Loretta Tyrel have all predeceased her. Survivors include her son, Kevin J. Frasier and his wife, Mary Beth of Lawrenceville, GA; her daughters, Wendy Maston and her husband, Richard of Chaffee, Bonnie Cottone and her husband, Richard of North Creek; two sisters, Shirley Wheeler of Pottersville, Patricia Mosher of Johnsburg; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Kelsey, Amber, Sean, Jennifer, Brittany, Joshua, Nathan and Meghan; one great grandson, Ezra; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Althea’s family from 5-7 pm Friday, at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 7 pm Friday at the funeral home. Spring burial will take place in the Bates Cemetery, Johnsburg. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Lung Association or to the American Heart Association.
