Warrensburg:
David J. Bruce, 57, formerly of Warrensburg, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 22, 2017 in Tallahassee, FL, following a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving wife, family, and friends.
Born September 20, 1959 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Faith (Ball) Bruce-Schermerhorn of Warrensburg and the late James Bruce.
Dave graduated from Warrensburg Central School in 1978.
Dave spent a short time working for Davis Construction, where he fulfilled his childhood desire, learning how to drive dump trucks, and following in his father’s footsteps. He then went to work for NYSDOT in 1979, as Paint Crew Supervisor and plowed snow in the winter, retiring after 35 of service.
Dave relocated to Tallahassee with his wife, Carol, where they met many great friends. There, Dave was employed by Haile Contracting, Inc.; he took great pride in his job and enjoyed the people he worked with.
He loved going on long motorcycle rides with his brother and good friend, Rick Russell, as well as several others. Dave could frequently be found at the local Stewart’s Shop or Pilot’s Truck Stop in Tallahassee, enjoying his coffee.
Besides his father, Dave is predeceased by his grandparents, Rev. Stanley and Reva Ball and George and Auguste Bruce.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife, Carol (Mahoney) Bruce of Queensbury and Tallahassee; daughter, Jessica “Peanut” Lylyk and her husband, Josh, of Hudson Falls; a new grandchild, due in November; siblings, Daniel (Tori) Bruce, Suzanne (George) McKinney, all of Warrensburg, Vicki (Scott) Russell of Dade City, FL. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of his life will follow, at 4 pm, with Rev. Nancy Barrow.
