Obituary of Phillip J. Hammond

North Creek: Phillip J. Hammond, 74, of North Creek, passed away suddenly, Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at his home. Born November 11, 1940 in Olmstedville, he was the son of the late Leland and Dorothy (Howe) Hammond. Phillip was a lifelong resident of the area who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a craftsman, skilled in woodworking and metal work. In addition to his parents, Phillip was predeceased by a daughter, Shelly Hammond, two brothers, Gary and Brion Hammond, a niece, Tammy Sharon, and three nephews, Andrew, Joseph, and Jamie Hammond. He is survived by his children, Faith Cleveland of Lake Pleasant, Amy Cleveland of North Creek, Christy Roberts of Howes Caves, and Greg Hammond and his wife, Emily of Olmstedville. His siblings, David Hammond of Pottersville, Lucille Werner of Glens Falls, Mike Hammond of Pottersville, Dale Hammond of Brant Lake, and Bruce Hammond of Olmstedville. He also leaves behind several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. At Phillip’s request there will be no calling hours scheduled. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be conducted privately at the convenience of his family.
