Obituary of Margaret H. Richards

Wevertown: Margaret H. Richards, 88, formerly of Route 8, passed away peacefully, Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Adirondack Tri-County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness. Born September 13, 1923 in Johnsburg, she was the daughter of the late Irving J. and M. Frances Ingraham-Richards. Margaret was a graduate of North Creek High School, class of 1940 and PG at Pottersville Central School. Educated as a secretary, she worked mainly at the Riverside Bottling works, Smith’s Hardware of Chestertown and several other local establishments. She was a faithful working member of the Wevertown Methodist Church. She enjoyed cross stitch- needlework, scrapbooking and interaction with her many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her brothers, Thomas and Allen Richards. She is survived by her siblings: Wilma Strohmeyer of Queensbury; Jean Bateman and her husband Clarence of Johnsburg; John Richards and his wife Parma of Queensbury; James Richards and his wife Patricia of Kingston; Ronald Richards and his wife Virginia of Lodi of CA; Thomas’ wife, Jean Vanderwarker-Richards; Allen’s wife, Mary Ann Leigh-Richards of Pleasant Valley; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Margaret’s family from 5 to 7 pm, Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 12 pm, Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Stephen Andrews, Pastor of the Warrensburg First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Warrensburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the organization of one’s choice.
