Obituary of Ruth I. Johnson

Warrensburg: Ruth I. Johnson, 84, formerly of Henry Street, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at the Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 18, 1925 in Winchendon, MA, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Marion (Cook) Antilla. She married John K. Johnson, Sr. on July 13, 1946 in Keene, NH. They were married for 53 years before his passing on July 25, 1999. The couple resided and raised their family in Jaffrey, NH and Valley Falls for over 30 years before retiring to Warrensburg. She was a member of the Warrensburg First United Methodist Church and the Methodist Women’s group of the church, member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Haskell Brother Post 4821 VFW, Glens Falls Hospital Guild, Queen Village Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, 50 Plus Club in Warrensburg. Her favorite pastimes included spending time with her children and grandchildren, crossword puzzles, reading and knitting, and observing nature. Besides her parents and husband, she is also predeceased by her brother, Andrew Antilla, and sister, Shirley Niskala. Survivors include her four daughters: Brenda Ossenfort and her husband, Donald of Rensselaer; Wendy Peluso and her husband, John of Warrensburg; Wanda Maciariello and her husband, Carmen of Warrensburg; and Robin Drago and her husband, Jim of Macedon; her son, Dr. John K. Johnson, Jr. and his wife, Charity of Springfield, VA; 16 grandchildren, Mark, Tamara, Lisa, Matthew, Michael, Wendy, Amy, Kimberly, Gwendolyn, Heather, John II, John Johnson III, Brett, Daniel, David and Andrew; 14 great-grandchildren; her two dear sisters, Gwendolyn Niskala of Jaffrey, NH, Barbara Lehtonen of New Ipswich, NH and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Ruth’s family from 12-2 pm Sunday, February 21, at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2 pm Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Dawn Robbins, Pastor of the Hudson Falls United Methodist Church officiating In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to charity of your choice.
