Obituary of Athora A. Steele

Chestertown: Athora A. Steele, 75, formerly of Main Street, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 19, 2009 at The Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Queensbury. Born in North Creek on March 2, 1934, she was the daughter of the late George and Sarah (Wakely) Steele. She was a life long resident of the area and enjoyed listening to her country music, spending time with her grandchildren, puzzle books, and walking. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her grandson, James Prosser; and sister, Daisy Younes. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Linda Tennant of Warrensburg; her granddaughter, Brenda Johnson of Thurman; her grandsons: Darryl Prosser, Jr. and his wife, Courtney; Clifford Johnson IV and Lance Johnson, all of Warrensburg. Sisters: Grace Clark of Kentucky; Charlotte Sherman of Lake George; brothers: Robert Viellette of Thurman; and Ronnie Villette of Chestertown; her great-grandchildren: Kiana and Dakota Johnson of Thurman; Sierra, Darren, and Logan Prosser of Warrensburg; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Athora’s family from 2 to 4 pm, Friday, October 23, 2009 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service will be conducted following the visitation at 4 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Athora’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, the National Kidney Foundation, or the American Diabetes Association.
