Bolton:
It is with great sadness, but also with hope in the Lord, that we report on the passing of Charles (Charlie) Henry Hensler, 78 years young, beloved husband of 55 years to Patricia Hensler, was received into the arms of Our Lord, on August 7, 2015 at his home on East Schroon River Road.
Charles was born on March 3, 1937 in Oceanside, NY and was the son of the late Ivor and Josephine (Kneuer) Hensler.
He was educated at Farmingdale State College.
Charlie worked with his father in the family electrical business and later was a member of the Teamsters, employed at Nassau Mutual in Hempstead, Long Island until the family relocated to the area in 1962. He was an accomplished builder and built their family home. He worked several years at Finch Pruyn as a millwright and taught building trades at Southern Adirondack Votech “BOCES” for 25 years; during that time he and his students constructed 18 homes in the surrounding area.
Charlie loved life, traveled widely, and celebrated his German heritage; he was a founding member of the German American Society of the Adirondacks and served as President for many years. Most recently he has been active in re-enactments of World War II, Volkssturm and the French and Indian War.
Everyone who knew Charlie knows what a great loss this is, yet, his spirit lives robustly in all of us.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his son, Charles Allen Hensler of Albany; daughter, Clair Ann and husband, Dr. Robert Hughes, of Queensbury; and son, Chris Andrew Hensler and wife, Barbara, of Petersburg, NY. He is the beloved Opa to three granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Nicole Hensler, and Larissa Hughes. Charlie also leaves behind three brothers, Raymond Hensler, Jerry Hensler and his wife Linda, and Jack Hensler and his wife, Doris, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, and extended family in Germany.
