Mary Ann Ordway, 72, of State Route 28, passed away peacefully, Monday, June 26, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital, following a brief illness.
Born December 16, 1944 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Pitkin) Lee.
She was a lifelong resident of the area. Following her graduation from Johnsburg Central School in 1962, she furthered her education at Plattsburgh State College and Albany Business College.
Mary Ann married Jay W. Ordway on January 19, 1967 in Glens Falls. The couple resided on the beautiful upper Hudson River in the hamlet of North Creek, enjoying 44 blissful years together until his passing in 2011.
She was always a friendly and familiar face at Johnsburg Central School where she worked as a teaching assistant for 25 years, retiring in 2000. She spent many summers as the Arts & Crafts Director with the Johnsburg Youth Program.
Besides spending time with her family, she enjoyed traveling around the country with Jay antiquing and attending auctions, gardening, cooking, arts & crafts and attending all her grandson’s many sporting events.
She is survived by her son, Joseph J. Ordway and his wife, Lisa, and their son and her beloved grandson, Jackson Joseph Ordway of Clifton Park; a daughter, Jill Ann (Ordway) Bailey and her husband, John, of Queensbury; her sister, Peg Lee of Pensacola, FL; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Mary Ann’s family from 3 to 6 pm, Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Alexander Funeral Home, Inc., 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will immediately follow the visitation at 6 pm, at the funeral home.
Burial will be conducted privately in Chester Rural Cemetery.
