Obituary of Gary D. Barrett

Warrensburg: Gary D. Barrett, Sr., 65, of River Street, passed away peacefully, Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born January 12, 1952 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Earl and Geraldine (Frasier) Barrett. He married Marytene Tucker on September 10, 1972 in West Glens Falls. His greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. He also enjoyed woodworking and tinkering with his many electronic devices. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his two children, Tina Adele and Gary “Bucky” Barrett, Jr.; his siblings, Wanda Barrett, Earl “Pete” Barrett Jr., Suzanne Williams, Clark Barrett, Wendy Prosser, Leo Barrett, Sr., and Anna VanGuilder. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Marytene Barrett of Warrensburg; his children, Amie Hill and her husband, Timothy Jr. of Warrensburg; Garth Barrett and his wife, Kathryn of Clarksville; daughter-in-law, Andrea Dumas of Queensbury; ten grandchildren: Zachary and his wife, Michele, Makayla, Jordan, Brittany, Emily, Austin, Chase, Allie, and Cody; one great-granddaughter, Avery Grace; siblings, Goldia Whiting and her husband, Al of Glens Falls; Betty Ostrander and her husband, Mark of Glens Falls; Kim McEachron and her husband, John of Saratoga Springs; Michael Barrett and his wife, Gail of Hudson Falls; Alden Barrett of Hudson Falls; James Barrett and his companion, Kathi of Edgewater Fla.; Tony Barrett and his wife, Kim of Gansevoort; Doug Barrett of Geneva; and Mark Barrett and his wife, Michelle of South Glens Falls; brother-in-law, Donny VanGuilder of Warrensburg; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Gary’s family from 5 to 7 pm, Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate his life will take place at 10 am, Thursday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Warrensburg Cemetery.
