Beverly J. (Prespare) Johnson, 83, of Schroon River Road, passed away peacefully, in her sleep, Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at the Haynes House of Hope in Granville, following a brief illness.
Born July 18, 1932 in Warrensburg, she was the daughter of the late Nelson “Pete” and Evelyn (Manley) Prespare.
A lifelong resident of the area, Bev was a graduate of Warrensburg Central School, Class of 1950. She then attended Child’s Hospital School of Nursing in Albany, graduating in 1952 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Bev worked for several years, later retiring from Westmount Health Facility.
Bev was known for her sense of humor, beautiful smile, and always said she loved to laugh. She enjoyed reading, western movies, and was quite the Black Jack poker player. Bev was also a talented pianist and taught several of her grandchildren to play.
In addition to her parents, Bev was predeceased by a brother, Normie Prespare, grandson, David Bellows, husband, Gordon Johnson, and former husband, Raymond Black.
She is survived by her only sister, Yvonne (Prespare) Johns of Tempe, AZ; five children, Nanette “Nan” Theiss and her husband, Robert Jr., of Waterford, Stacey “Gigi” Clark and her husband, Bruce, of Oceanside, CA, Peter Black and his wife, Carol, of Warrensburg, Erin Rhodes and her husband, Roger, of Deep Water, WV, and Starr Trapasso of Warrensburg; twelve grandchildren, Jordan, Gregg, Jason, Wendy, Brandon, Carrie, Rachelle, Ryan, Jasmine, Chris, Chiara, and Kerri; She also leaves behind several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
At Bev’s request there will be no calling hours or formal funeral services scheduled.
As she loved a great party, a memorial gathering to celebrate her life will be held from 1 to 4 pm, Sunday, April 3, 2016 at the Haskell Brothers Post 4821, VFW, Main Street, Warrensburg.
Bev’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Countryside Adult Home, as she spent many years there and loved you all and considered you family.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Beverly’s memory to the Haynes House of Hope, 7187 Route 149, Granville, NY 12832.
