Obituary of Ethel La Flamme Wood

Warrensburg: Ethel Wood, 78, of Grand Avenue, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany following a long illness. Born on December 10, 1930 in Wevertown, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mabel ( Barrett) Moffitt. Ethel began her working career at the Warrensburg Shirt Factory, and later went on to waitress at various local restaurants. Most recently, she and her daughter enjoyed volunteering their time at the North Country Ministries Thrift shop. During her spare time, Ethel enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, and fishing. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her sister, Eleanor Bills-Baker; and brothers, Carl and Leonard Moffitt. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Walter C. Wood; her children, Alice Frasier of Warrensburg; Iona Harrington and her husband, Albon of Thurman; Dona Geroux and her husband, Christopher of Warrensburg; sister, Florence Hayes and her husband, Harold of Warrensburg; brother, Henry Moffitt of Glens Falls; grandchildren, Joseph Hill and Christie Skiffington of Warrensburg; three great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. At Ethel’s request, there are no calling hours scheduled. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 10 am, Monday at the Warrensburg Cemetery.
