Obituary of Linda M. DeLong

Glens Falls: Linda Mae (Greer) DeLong, 64, of Ridge St., passed away peacefully, Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital. Born May 1, 1953 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Ellen (McCarthy) Greer. Linda attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Glens Falls, and was a graduate of SUNY Adirondack. Linda loved crafting, puzzles, crocheting, gardening, cats, coffee, and writing. She was a member of the Adirondack Writers Guild, and a volunteer EMT in Indian Lake, where she raised her family. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband of 27 years, Lionel E. DeLong, who died in 1999, a daughter, Carrie Lynn Jane DeLong who died in 1973, sons, Andrew Gordon and James Edward DeLong, who died in 2001, and a great-granddaughter, Gabriella Rose Parker who died in 2016. She is survived by three daughters, Danielle M. Baker of Brandywine, MD, Gena A. Guy and her husband, Chris, of Glens Falls, and Breann M. Parker and her husband, John, of North Creek; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. She also had a very close relationship with her aunt, Margerite Rockewell, cousins, Kathleen Emerson and Mary Ellen Bernard, and lifelong friends, Donna Blair and Sue Hopkins. At Linda’s request there will be no calling hours scheduled. Family and friends are invited to gather from 1 to 4 pm, Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 16 Stevens St., Glens Falls. Friends are encouraged to bring a memory or dish to share. Her family sincerely appreciates the overwhelming outpouring of support during this tragic time. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Linda’s name to the Charles R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital, 102 Park St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.
