Obituary of Mildred E. Bates

Warrensburg:
Mildred E. Bates, 86, formerly of Main St., passed away, Monday evening, October 9, 2006 at Adirondack Tri-County Health Care Facility, North Creek, following a long illness.
Born on December 16, 1919 in Johnsburg, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Alta (Hitchcock) Stewart.
Following her early education at North Creek High School, she married her sweetheart, Glenn D. Bates on her 16th birthday in 1935 at the home of her parents.
The couple lived in Johnsburg and Garnet Lake before settling in Warrensburg. Mr. Bates died on May 16, 1993.
Mildred worked as a garment presser with the former Warrensburg Shirt Factory until it closed, later she worked with the Embassy Shirt Factory in Glens Falls until her retirement in 1979.
Beside her husband, Glenn, she was predeceased by her sisters, Rosmond Kenyon and Mary Brann, her brothers, John, George and Fred Stewart.
She is survived by one son, Gary Bates and his wife, Claire of Warrensburg, a daughter, Nancy Edmunds and her husband, Allen of Warrensburg, a brother, Earl Stewart and his wife, Barbara of Ticonderoga, three grandsons, three granddaughters, 11 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Saturday, October 14 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
Friends may call on Mildred’s family from 6-8 pm Friday evening at the funeral home and one hour prior to the funeral service Saturday.
Burial will follow at the Warrensburg Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in the form of donations may be made to Warrensburg Fire Company, the Warrensburg EMS or to the Adirondack Tri-County Health Care Center.
