Obituary of David Gorr

Thurman: David Gorr, 91, a longtime resident on Bowen Hill Road, and formerly of Chicago, Illinois, was reunited with his beloved wife, Ruth (Reinicke) Gorr on June 17, 2008. Born on December 7, 1916 in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Gottfried and Amalia (Pfiefer) Gorr. David was a World War II veteran, having served in the US Coast Guard from 1941 – 1944. He was a loyal supporter of veterans’ causes. David loved the outdoors. He took great joy in nature, raising livestock, gardening and cutting wood. Survivors include brothers, Alex and William Gorr; sister-in-law, Delores Gorr, and sister Bertha Schultz; as well as many nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by siblings, Henry Gorr, John Gorr, and Gottfried Gorr Jr., and Amalia Cano. In the course of his long life, Dave touched many lives and made countless friends. He was generous to a fault. Dave loved life and made every day special. Some of his long-time friends include Timothy and Gail Lawson, Diane Arzberger, Pam Mannix, and Debbie Baker. Friends may call on David’s family from 12- 2 pm, Monday, June 23, at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate his life will follow the visitation at 2 pm, Monday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in the Warrensburg Cemetery.
