Warrensburg: William G. Wert, Sr, 55, of Fourth Ave., passed away unexpectedly, in his sleep, Wednesday, October 8, 2008 while visiting good friends on Kelm Pond. Willy had just returned from a most enjoyable weekend in Pennsylvania visiting his children, whom he cherished. He was born December 3, 1952 in Newark, NJ to the late David and Ruth (Lawrence) Wert. Willy spent his childhood in Montclair and Bloomfield, NJ, where as a young man, he worked with his father in the drafting trade. He met his wife to be, Kathleen Fitzgerald and they wed in 1978. The couple had three children and moved to the north-country in 1982. Willy worked in the trucking business for many years and was the general manager with Fort Ann Express until 1994. He also drove for various other companies throughout the years. He enjoyed riding his vintage Harley and was a member of the Haskell Bros. Post 4821 VFW in Warrensburg. Survivors besides his former wife, include his three children, Julienne Patricia Wert of Queensbury, William G. Wert, Jr. of Quakertown, PA, Jacquelyn Michele Wert of East Stroudsburg, PA; Brother, John Wert and his wife, Margaret of Wayne, NJ; two nephews, Parrish John Wert and William Joseph Wert; one great niece, Courtney Wert, all of St. Petersburg, FL. At Willy’s request, he will be cremated and a gathering of his family and friends to celebrate his life will take place 11 am - 1 pm Sunady, Oct. 12, at the Haskell Bros.
