Obituary of Marilyn L. Richards

North Creek: Marilyn L. Richards, 70, of Main Street passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 31, 1939 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Sara (Farrell) Donohue. Following her graduation from the Indian Lake High School, she attended the Beau Arts Cosmetology School in Syracuse. Marilyn worked at various salons in the area until she opened The Hair Center in North Creek, which she owned and operated for over 30 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She loved to host large family dinners where she could enjoy the company of her beloved grandchildren, and attended nearly every sporting event that they were involved in. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Peter Donohue; and sister, Linda McCarthy. She is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Brian Richards; her sons: Brian Richards and his wife, Brandy of North Creek; Mark Richards and his wife, Rhonda of North Creek; Jack Richards and his wife, Ann Marie of Warrensburg; her grandchildren: Benjamin, Lindsey, Nolan, Laura, Jack Thomas (JT) and Matthew Richards. Sisters: Patricia DeGray and her husband, Edward of Cicero; Rosemary Caldwell and her husband, Wayne of Mexico, NY; Susan Furbeck and her husband, Bill of Camillus; and Sally Dolbeck and close family friend, Carol Latocha of DeRuyder; her brother, John Donohue and his wife, Marge of North River; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Marilyn’s family from 1-3 and 6-8 pm, Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at the Alexander Funeral Home, 4479 State Route 28, North River. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 am, Wednesday, November 25, at the Assembly of God Church, 3990 Main St., Warrensburg, with Pastor Ronald Parisi, officiating. Burial will be held privately immediately following the funeral service at the Richards Cemetery in Bakers Mills.
