Obituary of Mary O. Pratt

Minerva: Mary Owens Pratt, 65, of 14th Road, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014 following a long illnesss. Born June 26, 1948 in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Marion (Ervin) Owens. Following her graduation from Johnsburg Central School, Mary attended Castleton State College. She married Daniel Pratt on July 10, 1981 at The Glen. Mary was employed by Minerva Central School as a Special Education teaching assistant, before retiring in 2009. Mary served on the Board of Directors for the Owens Museum. Her favorite pastime was reading and just being home. Very dear to her heart was the many years working with the children and being an active volunteer with Operation Santa Claus and toys-for-tots. She is survived by her beloved husband of 32 years, Daniel G. Pratt of Minerva; a son, Daniel Pratt of Minerva; and a brother, Daniel Owens and his wife, Maryanne of Bloomville. She also leaves behind 18 nieces and nephews, and special friends, Mare Mare and Sue. Friends may call on Mary’s family from 10-11 am, Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate her life will take place following the visitation, at 11 am at the funeral home. Spring Interment will take place in Minerva Baptist Cemetery, Minerva. Mary’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Minerva Fire & Rescue Squad, Sister Donna, and the many doctors that helped her through her life journey.
