North Creek / Smithfield, VA Helen Ann Reynolds, 83, formerly of North Creek, passed away in Suffolk, VA on Monday, November 7, 2011. Helen was born on January 17, 1928 to the late Arthur Joseph and Hazel Mae (Eggleston) Machaby in Malone. She attended and graduated high school from Franklin Academy. In 1947, she married Leland Reynolds. They began raising their family while living in National Lead Mining town in Tahawus. After clearing the land by hand, Helen drafted the plans while Lee logged trees and planed the boards for the home that they built and moved into in 1961. It was that home on Bird Pond Road that they raised their 8 children. Helen was employed as a cashier for a few years at Morwoods IGA in North Creek. She retired however after ten plus years of service with the Pottersville Post Office. Helen's artistic talent was second to none. Her paintings, oils and watercolor as well as her charcoal drawings have appeared in many local venues, as well as hang in the homes of the lucky few who received them as a gift from her. In addition to being a master gardener, she also manipulated dried flowers to create incredible framed sceneries. Her talents exceeded the limits of canvas and craft. Helen also was a remarkable Seamstress. She designed and created clothing for her children as well as each of her daughter’s prom gowns, maid of honor and bridesmaid gowns and even one wedding dress. Helen was as lifelong member of St. James Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Lee, her grandson Ronnie Mayfield, her sister Joan Durant and her brother Jack Machaby. Helen is survived by her 5 daughters, Sandra Mayfield of Schenectady, Cynthia Green of Ft. Edward, Lee Aliff of Suffolk, VA, Nita Reynolds-Stansberry of Hudson Falls, and Yvonne LaFountain of Hudson Falls; her 3 sons, Joseph Reynolds of Greenfield, Mass, Daniel Reynolds of Glens Falls, and Spencer Reynolds of Jay; her 13 Grandchildren, Sheri, Jason, Clint, Lisa, Susie, Jill, Travis, Helena, John, Christopher, Randy, Rebbeca and Robert; her 14 Great Grandchildren; her brother Gary Machaby, Holbrook, Mass; and her several nieces, nephews and cousins.
