Obituary of Alice R. Savage

Johnsburg: Alice R. Savage, 73 of Garnet Lake Road, passed away Sunday evening, July 9, 2006 at the Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness. Born August 13, 1932 in Bakers Mills, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Edith (Morehouse) Millington. Alice was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from Johnsburg Central High School. For many years, she was the gift shop manager at the former Gas Light Village. She retired from the cafeteria staff at the Adirondack Tri-County Health Care Center in North Creek after more than 15 years of service. Alice was known for her skill decorating special event cakes, such as wedding and anniversary cakes for many in the area. She enjoyed playing Bingo, crocheting and crafts and was a long time member of the Sodom Community Church. Besides her parents, her brothers, Ernie Millington and Lawrence Richards have both predeceased her. Survivors include her sister, Arvilla Fuller and her husband, Orville of Corinth; a special niece, Phyllis Monroe and her husband, Owen “Dick” of Warrensburg; 11 other nieces and nephews and numerous grand nieces and nephews. Friends may call on the family from 11 am – 1 pm Thursday at the Alexander Funeral Home, Inc, 4479 State Rt. 28, North River. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Thursday following the visitation at the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald Allen, Pastor of the Sodom Community Church officiating. Burial will take place in the Bates Cemetery, Johnsburg.
