North Creek: Kathleen “Kay” Helen Arsenault It is with the same dignity and grace that Kathleen lived life that she entered into death. Kathleen “Kay” Helen Arsenault, age 88, of North Creek passed away on Friday, January 4th, 2008. Her courageous spirit and passion for living life to the fullest served her well throughout her final years. Born on December 18th, 1919 in Staten Island, she was the beloved daughter of the late Patrick J. and Mary (Melton) Murray. Kay loved to talk of her wonderful childhood with her many Irish cousins. Kay was a graduate of Spencer Business School in New York City. Kay vacationed in the Adirondacks as a teenager and met the love of her life, Art Arsenault at a square dance on Loon Lake in Chestertown. They were married for 23 years and lived in North Creek. After her husband’s sudden death at age 47, Kay stayed in the family home to raise their six children and involved herself in community fundraising activities. Kay also continued to operate the family vacation cabins at Loon Lake. This lake compound remains the gathering place today for four generations of her surviving family. Kay loved participating in senior citizen activities in North Creek and was loved by all for her Irish wit and charm. In the past three years her failing eyesight created many challenges in her life, but Kay used strong Catholic faith to bring her strength. Kay is survived by her six children; Patricia Plaster and her husband, Keith of Brentwood, NH, Thomas Arsenault and his wife, Ardell of Pittsfield, MA, Gene Arsenault and his wife, Ann of Johnsburg, Marylou Young and her husband, Phil of Shaftsbury, VT, Bud Arsenault and his wife, Karen of Pittsfield MA, and Sherry Gray and her husband, Hunter of Ogden, UT. Kay is also survived by one brother, John Murray of Staten Island as well as 15 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Friends may call on Kay’s family from 5-8 pm Thursday evening, January 10 at the Alexander Funeral Home, Inc, 4479 State Rt. 28, North River. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate her life will be conducted 11 am Friday, January 11 at St. James Catholic Church in North Creek. Rite of committal will take place in the St. James Cemetery, North Creek in the spring. A reception will follow the funeral services at Tannery Pond Community Center.
