Obituary of James L. Straight

Warrensburg: James “Jim” L. Straight, 72, of Warrensburg lost his courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, July 23rd 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. Jim is the son of the late Beatrice Barrett and Lester Straight and is also predeceased by one brother Jack Straight. Jim enjoyed spending time with this family, close friends and neighbors, and his two “Grand dogs” Shadow and Telly. Jim is survived by the love of his life that he married on May 30th 1959, Patricia E. Forte of 49 years and their seven children; Ms. Debbie (Straight) Steagall and her husband, Mark of Missouri, Ms Delores (Straight) Buckelew and her late husband, Johnny, whom passed in 2007 of Tennessee and their two children, Nicky and Natalie, Mr. James L. Straight II of Thurman and his four children Amanda, Joshua, Brandon, and Sydney, Ms. Jacqueline (Straight) Nelson and her companion, Daniel DeMarsh of Warrensburg and her children Tyson, Lucas, Emma, and Daalten and her stepchildren Ashley and Austin, and ex son-in-law, Robert Nelson of Warrensburg, Ms. Kathleen Straight of Queensbury and her two children, Deja and Kaylan, Ms. Melissa Straight of Warrensburg and Ms. Melinda Straight of Warrensburg. Jim is also survived by seven great grand children, nieces and nephews, a sister-in-law Velita Schutzmier of Texas, one aunt, Ms. Betty McKinney of Warrensburg, several cousins including Bud and Wanda Reed of Warrensburg and Rosie and Tommy Lomax of Warrensburg and very close family friends Phyllis and Owen “Dick” Monroe of Warrensburg. The family would like to thank Maureen Linehan and Stephanie Wood whom took exceptional care of Jim during his last few months. At Jim’s request there will be no calling hours, he has chosen to donate his body to Albany Medical College for research in hope to help in the finding of a cure for cancer.
