Warrensburg: William Roydon Ranous, 51 of Burdick Ave, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, November 17, 2007 at his home. Born July 5, 1956 in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of Bernice Snow of Lakewood, NJ and the late Roydon Ranous. Bill as he was referred to by all who love him, graduated from Keyport High School, NJ in 1974. He immediately enlisted in the US Coast Guard and served more than five years before his honorable discharge in 1980. He moved to the Adirondacks and later married Deborah Ann Bailey of Warrensburg on July 25, 1981. A retired Warren County Corrections Officer, Bill recently worked as a security guard at the Hyde Museum. He was an active member of the Warrensburg and Thurman Emergency Squads due to his great love for helping others. Passionate about everything in life, he was thought of as the “Jack of all trades!” He was hardworking, talented, had a great sense of humor, and a heart of gold. Some things Bill most enjoyed were tricking out his vehicles and attending car shows with his son. He was an avid NASCAR, Jeff Gordon fan, enjoyed building model cars, listening to music, and hanging out with his favorite Chihuahuas, Mico, Gizmo, Taco and Tazi. Besides his father, his father in law, Richard Bailey as also predeceased him. Besides his mother, Bernice, Bill leaves behind his beloved wife of 26 years, Debbie Ranous of Warrensburg; his son, Billy Ranous Jr. and his companion, Jennifer Smith of Glens Falls; his daughter, Aleisha VanAlen and her husband, Gene of Warrensburg; brother, Roydon (Jeffery) Ranous and his wife, Elaine; sisters, Joann Ranous and Michelle and Dennis Lowe all of Southern New Jersey; brother, Tommy Ranous of PA; sister, Suzanne Ranous of CO; his mother in law, Rose Bailey of Warrensburg; brother in law, Richie Bailey and his wife, Cyndi of Warrensburg; sister in law, Sheila Curren and her husband, Dave of Bolton Landing and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Bill’s family from 6-9 pm today (Tuesday) at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. Members of the Warrensburg EMS will conduct a memorial service at 7 pm today during the visitation at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted 11 am Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve VanDixhorn, Pastor of the Pine Knolls Alliance Church in South Glens Falls officiating.
