Warrensburg: Patsy J. Brooks, 69, of Sanford Street passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, July 8, 2012 at his home. Born June 17, 1943 in Whitehall, he was the son of the late Patsy and Violet (Lunt) Brooks. Pat attended Fort Edward High school until he enlisted in the US Navy in 1961. Upon his completion of basic training, he was assigned to the USS William M. Wood DDR 715 which was deployed to the Bay of Pigs during the Cuban missile crisis. Following his honorable discharge, Pat settled in Aspen, CO where he eventually purchased a ranch, raising horses until he decided to return to the upstate area so he could be closer to his family. Pat enjoyed reminiscing about his many travels but most of all, he was proud of his many photos of family, his Navy days, his high school buddies, and his days in Whitehall with his many friends, including his close friend, Tony Scrimo. Pat was also known as Butch to his family, Pat to his friends, and Patsy was his given name. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Angelo Brooks. He is survived by his daughter, Alicia of FL; his son, Anthony Brooks and his daughter, Kearsten of Syracuse; his brother, John Brooks and his wife, Theresa of South Glens Falls; niece, Jody Brooks of Albany and nephew, Michael Brooks of Queensbury; his aunts and uncles, Patricia and Don Mahar; Marion Dewey of Low Hampton, Lillian Aiken of Fort Edward, Rosemary Brooks of Granville, along with several cousins. Pat always held a special place in his heart for his son Anthony, whom he was very proud of. He was always thankful for his brother John Brooks, sister-in-law, Theresa, his aunt and uncle, Patrician and Don Mahar, niece and nephew, Jody and Michael Brooks and his special friend, Maureen who were always there for him. His family would like to thank his neighbors who would occasionally look in on him. At Pat’s request, there are no calling hours or funeral services scheduled. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the SPCA of Upstate New York, PO Box 171, Hudson Falls, NY 12839. Please visit www.alexanderfh.net for online guestbook and condolences.
