Warrensburg Carmela “Millie” Perna, 80, formerly of King St., went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, June 14, 2007, surrounded by her loving family at Westmount Health Facility. Born on the 24th day of October, 1926 in Manhattan, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Maria (Soldano) DiGesu. Millie was a homemaker for most of her life and also kept busy working as a dress maker and in a family owned pizzeria and ice cream shop. Millie enjoyed cooking, knitting and crocheting. She also loved her Yankee’s baseball, ice skating and keeping up on her favorite soap operas. Her greatest love was her family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Angelo Perna Sr., her two sisters Anna O’Shea and Josephine Gentile as well as one granddaughter Vanessa Perna. She is survived by five sons, Andrew R. Perna and his wife, Karen of Greenwood Lake, Angelo Perna, Jr. and his wife, Joyce of Whiting, NJ, William Perna and his wife, Diane of Greenwich, Jack Perna and his wife, Doreen of Queensbury, Lawrence Perna and his companion, Sylvia Webster of Warrensburg; One sister, Domencia “Minnie” Coia of Massapequa Park; Seven Grandchildren, Three Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was a communicant of St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church, Warrensburg. Her faith and family is what kept her thriving in her later years. Family will receive friends on Monday, June 18 from 2-4 and 6-8 at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church, Main St., Warrensburg. Members of the Bay Ridge Vol. Fire Co. will conduct services at 7 pm during the visitation at the church. A Wake Service will follow at 8pm with Sister Linda Hogan, Parish Life Director, officiating. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12pm, Tuesday at St. Mary of the Lake RC Church, Lakewood, NJ. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood, NJ.
