Obituary of Hilda E. MacLeod

Queensbury: Hilda E. (Crellin) MacLeod, 85, of Queensbury, passed away at Glens Falls Hospital on Saturday, September 30, 2007, following a brief illness. Born June 8, 1922 in Northumberland, England, Hilda at an early age moved to Canada where she was raised in New Denver, British Columbia. Following high school, Hilda attended Business College in Trail, British Columbia. In 1947, while in Trail, she married Hugh MacLeod. They moved from Canada to Queensbury in 1964 where Hugh was employed by Kamyr, Inc. until his death in 1971. Throughout her years, Hilda was active in local community service and volunteer work. She served on the Board of Directors for the Glens Falls Association for the Blind for many years; was an active volunteer for the Habitat for Humanity Foundation; Hyde Museum; Christ Church Methodist; and was a longtime member of the local Chapter BX, P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization). Hilda was a loving and caring mother, and genuine friend to all who knew her, and will be truly missed. Besides her husband of 24 years, she was also predeceased by a brother, Ellison Crellin, and Sister-In-Law Anne (MacLeod) Laakso. Survivors include her daughter Linda Barson and her husband Stephen of Queensbury, her son Blair MacLeod of Vancouver, British Columbia, a brother David Crellin and his wife Kay, and Sister-In-Law Audie Crellin of Kamloops, British Columbia, a Brother-In-Law, James MacLeod of Vancouver, British Columbia, and several nieces and nephews in Queensbury, Kamloops, and Vancouver, British Columbia. At the request of the deceased there will be no calling hours. Burial will take place at Pine View Cemetery in Queensbury with a graveside service to be conducted for the family at their convenience. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Glens Falls Association for the Blind, 144 Ridge St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.
