Obituary of Louis Earl Ackley

Louis E. Ackley, Jr., 65, of Alden Ave., passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at his home.
Born August 28, 1950 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Gertrude M. (Harvey) Ackley of Warrensburg and the late Louis E. Ackley, Sr.
Lou spent his childhood in the Niagara Falls region, where he graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School in 1969.
He was drafted into the United States Army in 1970, where he served his country in Vietnam, before his honorable discharge in 1972.
Following his military service, Lou worked for Harrison Radiator, prior to relocating to Warrensburg in 1978, where he was employed by Mallinckrodt in Argyle.
Lou married Ann Swinton in 1979 in Niagara Falls. Together the couple had one daughter, Cassandra, who was the sunshine of his life.
Most recently Lou and his brother, Dean established Direct Deposit Bottle Redemption in Warrensburg, where he worked up until the time of his death. They prided themselves on receiving the Business of the Year Award in 2013 from the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce.
Besides spending time with his family, Lou enjoyed being outdoors, four wheeling, traveling, NASCAR, and was known for always lending a helping hand.
Besides his father, Louis was predeceased by his brothers, Teddy Ackley and Vernon Schrader.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Cassandra Rausch and her husband, Chris, of Warrensburg; two grandsons, Hunter and Carter Rausch; his soulmate, Ann (Swinton-Ackley) Chapman, and her daughter, Kimberly Chapman; siblings, Danny Ackley, Randy Ackley, Cheryl Tennant, Jeffrey Ackley and his wife, Sheila, and Dean Ackley. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
Friends may call on Louis’ family from 5 to 8 pm, Monday, October 5, 2015 at Alexander Funeral Home, Inc., 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will take place at 10 am, Tuesday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a random act of kindness in Louis’ memory.
