Please share a memory of Samuel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Warrensburg: Samuel M. Augusta Jr, 80, of Hudson Street, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born August 23, 1936 in North River, he was the son of the late Samuel and Nellie (Gorley) Augusta. He met Halah L. Wyman in Corinth in 1955 and the couple eventually married on April 28, 1956 in Luzerne. Sam and his wife thoroughly enjoyed fishing together. They would frequently drive to South Pond, Blue Mountain Lake, and DuMoine Rod and Gun Club in central Quebec (where he was Vice President and lifetime member of the Club) and were both considered accomplished anglers. He was also an avid outdoorsman and rarely missed a hunting season. He trekked countless miles convinced the big buck was out there waiting. Sam retired in 1998 after several years working for Finch Pryne as a pipefitter. Besides his parents and his beloved wife, Halah, who died June 14, 2012 after 55 years of marriage, he is also predeceased by his brother Franklin Augusta and half-brothers Carl Lindquist and William “Sonny” Lindquist. He is survived by his children: Katherine Moon and her companion Mike Gellar of Warrensburg; Carol Baker and her husband, Steven of Thurman; Karen Dingman and her husband, Bruce of Athol; Douglas Augusta of Warrensburg; Genevieve Durham and her husband, Steve of Pikeville, NC; Charles Augusta of Warrensburg; Kristine McInnis and her husband, Darcy of Warrensburg; grandchildren: Steven Baker, Jr., Bradd Baker, Brandi Anaman, Jamie Durham, Joshua Durham, Jeremiah Augusta, Anthony Augusta, D.J. Augusta, Matthew Augusta, Travis Augusta and James Philips; numerous great-grandchildren; his sister, Arlene Blanchard and her husband, Shirley of Queensbury; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sam’s family would also like to mention their longtime family friends, John and Shirley Younes of Brant Lake as well as close friends Bill and Joyce Walkup of Fort Ann. At Sam’s request, there are no calling hours scheduled. Sam’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Amy Hogan-Moulton and her staff, as well as the Warren County Health Nurses for the outstanding care he received throughout the years. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Warrensburg EMS, 3 King Street, Warrensburg, NY 12885. Please visit www.alexanderfh.net for online guest book and condolences.
