I am so happy to have known Aunt Helen and to have visited her and family there on many occasions. She was an extraordinary person who I came to know and love. I was very lucky to have had her make my wedding cake! Her home on the pond was such a place of connection for family & friends. I feel blessed to have known her and know how much she will be missed by those who loved her. My love to all of the family at this time of her passing. Wendy

What a touching and accurate synopsis of Helen's life. When we came up to visit her and her beautiful Ordway Pond property each Summer, we felt like we were coming home. She made us feel like family. Words cannot capture her warmth and sincerity. We treasure memories of sitting on her front porch watching humming birds, sharing laughs and, of course, cookies. God bless you Helen. You will be with us always. Love, The Mackeys

Our thoughts and prayers are with Helen's family. She was a very special lady. I worked at the supermarket where Helen would order the turkeys for the Town Highway Dept. She didn't want us to tell anyone that she was giving them a Thanksgiving turkey. She didn't want the recognition for it. She did it out of love.

I lived close to Ordway's Pond and often swam there as a youth or fished for frogs on the other side of the railroad tracks. I remember Helen when she worked in the cafeteria at JCS. My father, the JCS principal, once told me that he worked at Ordway's Pond when it was a YMCA summer camp. He was at the Glens Falls YMCA and was studying physical education at Springfield College. Helen had the warmest smile and loved children.

Helen and family. What can be said about Helen in the short time I knew her? She always showed her love for us girls at Adk tri county. She always gave us smiles and hugs even when she wasn't feeling the best. She always made us feel like we were worth our value there. I will never forget her chapstick and smile when she got it! I love and miss you Helen.

Helen was the most gracious woman I have ever known. Always smiling and knew everyone. After I left North Creek, I saw her in a store in Glens Falls and I said "Hello Mrs. Cornwall, how are you? I'm fine Martha and it's time you started calling me Helen". She never forgot anyone's name and always had a kind word for you. A lovely person.

I have great memories of Helen's warmth, kindness and the love she extended to everyone. I met Helen years ago when we would leave our youngest in her care and I worked as Nurse at the Mountain. When we would meet years later, she would remember me, our family and we always had so much to talk about. Great Lady!! We were all blessed to know her.

Saturday, November 11, 2017
So sorry to hear this. Ted was always very fond of Helen (as was I, of course). His fondest memories are from when she had been passing out over and over and he'd respond with the ambulance. He'd announce, "Helen, I'm heeere", and she'd laugh as they put her in the ambulance for another ride. Turned out the faints were caused by, of all thing, her prescription eye drops. The doctor changed her medications and the faints ended. Helen will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
