Obituary of Wayne B. Smith

Olmstedville: Wayne B. Smith, 59 of State Rt. 29, passed away, Monday, January 30, 2006 at the Glens Falls Hospital after suffering a heart attack at his home. Born September 11, 1946 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Charles and Ruth (Dalaba) Smith. He was a lifelong resident of the area. Following his high school years, he served in the US Marine Corp. for two tours in Vietnam, obtaining the rank of Sergeant. During his service he was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation, the Cross of Gallantry and the Combat Action Ribbon. Wayne worked in the construction field with the Laborers International Union of North America, Local #186, Plattsburgh. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping, he was an avid gardener and enjoyed growing his own vegetables and flowers. Wayne is survived by his daughter Kathy L. Feiden of Warrensburg; Grandchildren Brandon and Emma Feiden; a brother Ronald Smith and wife Paula of Oswego; sisters, Darlene Gregson and husband Barry of Schroon Lake and Denise Gregson and husband Blair of Newcomb; friends Tom and Sarah Dunbar; Wayne’s companion Toni Lynne Green, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family, Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Vet. Association.
