Obituary of Halah L. Augusta

Warrensburg: Halah L. Augusta, 72, of Hudson Street, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, June 14, 2012 at the Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born October 24, 1939 in Corinth, she was the daughter of Hazel Wyman of Melbourne, FL and the late William Wyman. She met Samuel M. Augusta in Corinth in 1955 and the couple eventually wed on April 28, 1956 in Luzerne. Halah was an avid quilter and belonged to the Over the Edge Quilting Club at the First Presbyterian Church in Warrensburg. Throughout the years, she and her quilting club received several awards for their crafting abilities. They often donated their work to numerous charities and nursing homes in the area. She and her husband thoroughly enjoyed fishing together. They would frequently drive to South Pond, Blue Mountain Lake, and DuMoine Rod and Gun Club in central Quebec and was an accomplished angler. Halah was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, as well as a caregiver, babysitting for many local families over the years. Besides her father, she is predeceased by her sister, Patricia Hayes, and son in law, Randall Moon. She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Samuel Augusta of Warrensburg; her children: Katherine Moon and her companion Mike Gellar of Warrensburg; Carol Baker and her husband, Steven of Thurman; Karen Dingman and her husband, Bruce of Athol; Douglas Augusta of Warrensburg; Genevieve Durham and her husband, Steve of Caulifield, MO; Charles Augusta of Warrensburg; Kristine McInnis and her husband, Darcy of Warrensburg; grandchildren: Steven Baker, Jr., Bradd Baker, Brandi Anaman, Jamie Durham, Joshua Durham, Jeremiah Augusta, Anthony Augusta, D.J. Augusta, Matthew Augusta, and Travis Augusta; numerous great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Arlene Blanchard and her husband, Shirley of Queensbury; and brother-in-law, Franklin Augusta of South Glens Falls; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Halah’s family would also like to mention her longtime family friends, John and Shirley Younes of Brant Lake. At Halah’s request, there are no calling hours scheduled. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be conducted at the convenience of her family.
