Obituary of Genevieve E. Kimmerly

North Creek: Genevieve E. Kimmerly, 88, formerly of North Creek and Chestertown, passed away, Thursday, August 14, 2008 at the Adirondack Tri-County Health Care Center in North Creek following a long illness. Born July 13, 1920 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Grady) Fairweather. Genevieve married Aron Kimmerly on May 15, 1945. The couple resided on Long Island, North Creek and Chestertown before her husband’s passing on July 9, 1990 after 45 years of marriage. Genevieve owned and operated Kimmerly Realty in North Creek for many years. Her favorite pastimes included crocheting, volunteering with the Foster Grandparents, Head Start program in Glens Falls, and spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. Cecilia’s Church in Warrensburg. Besides her husband, she is also predeceased by her daughter, Patricia, who passed away in 1984; her son, Matthew, who passed away in 2001 and grandson, Sgt. Kevin Kimmerly, who passed away in 2003; her brother, Joseph and sisters, Mary and Loretta have also predeceased her. Survivors include her three sons, Wayne Kimmerly and his wife, Cathy of South Glens Falls, Robert Kimmerly and his wife, Sherri of Fort Edward, John Kimmerly and his companion, Fran of Chestertown; seven grandchildren, Aron and Marc Kimmerly, Christine Ruby and her husband, Ray, Heather Rock and her husband, Derrick, John Kimmerly, Karen Miles and her husband, Chris, and Rachel Kimmerly; four great grandchildren, three brothers, George Fairweather of Las Vegas, NV, Matthew Fairweather of New Paltz, Arthur Fairweather of St. James; her sister, Muriel Marino of TX; daughter in law, Tammy Kimmerly and granddaughter in law, Inga Kimmerly, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 2-5 pm Sunday at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am Monday at St. Cecilia’s RC Church, Main St., Warrensburg with the Rev. Paul Cox, officiating. Burial will take place in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery, Warrensburg at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to Adirondack Tri-County Health Care Center or to the Johnsburg EMS.
