Obituary of Frederick S. Granger

Johnsburg: Frederick S. “Stan” Granger, 72, of South Johnsburg Rd., passed away Thursday, June 10, 2010 at his home following a long illness with his loving family at his side. Born January 14, 1938 in Bolton Landing, he was the son of the late Fred W. and Eva (Clark) Granger. Stan was a lifelong resident of the area and married Irene Russell on October 4th, 1957 in Bolton Landing. For over 25 years, Stan was an Operating Engineer with Local 106 in Albany as a heavy equipment operator on such notable projects as the Adirondack Northway and Olympic Center in Lake Placid. He also owned and operated F. Granger and Son Excavating and Logging Co. and was very proud to be in business with his son, Fred Jr. In the early 1970’s, he ran his own motorcycle shop in Johnsburg selling Indian Motorcycles and Scorpion snowmobiles. Stan’s favorite pastimes included riding his Honda Goldwing with his wife and friends and also taught many of his family to ride motorcycle. He also enjoyed bowling, camping, deer and rabbit hunting and wintering in Florida. Besides his parents, his brother, Francis Granger and sister, Ada Granger, and great grandson, Zachary M. Smith have all predeceased him. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Irene A, Granger of Johnsburg; his four children, Debbie Burdett and her husband, Ronald of Warrensburg, Darlene Bennett and her husband, Rick of North Creek, Frederick Granger Jr. and his companion, Denise, Tammy Moody and her companion, Jeb of Johnsburg; his sister, Merle Coulter of North Creek; six grandsons, Brian Burdett, Kyle, Andrew (Cathleen) and Jesse Bennett, Shawn (Penny) Warrington, Billy Conlon ; three granddaughters, Jill Burdett (Jason), Nicole Conlon (Rich), and Ashley Conlon (Vern); six great grandson, Tyler, Kurtis, Cody, Orlando, Noah, and Jason; four great granddaughters, Kora, Autumn, Alissa, and Taylor; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Stan’s family from 5-8 pm Sunday at the Warrensburg First Baptist Church, 3850 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be conducted 11 am Monday at the church with the Rev. Ronald Burdett, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Bates Cemetery, Johnsburg. Pallbearers will be Brian Burdett, Kyle, Andrew, and Jesse Bennett, Gilbert Woodard and Dean Russell.
