Obituary of James L. Bruce

Warrensburg: James Lyle Bruce, 82, of River St, passed away, Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the Glens Falls Hospital following a short illness with his loving family at his side. Born April 23, 1926 in Warrensburg, he was the youngest of seven children of the late George and Augusta (Fourier) Bruce. He married Faith Ball on November 27, 1957, the couple have resided in Warrensburg for over 45 years. Known by many as Jim, he retired after many years from the Warren Co. DPW and the Town of Warrensburg Highway Department. Jim was a Disabled Veteran of WW II. He was affiliated with the Free Methodist Church in Warrensburg. Besides his parents, his brothers, Richard and Marcus and sisters, Katherine Swota, Agnes Shovah, Gretchen Judson and Marie Rabeneau have all predeceased him. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Faith Bruce of Warrensburg; his children, David Bruce and his fiancée, Carol of Glens Falls , Daniel Bruce and his wife, Tori of Warrensburg, Sue McKinney and her husband, George of Warrensburg, Vicki Russell and her husband, Scott of Dade City, FL; his sister, Frieda Hall Of Hudson Falls; 11 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Jim’s family from 5-7 pm Saturday evening at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A service to celebrate his life will follow the visitation at 7 pm Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Leonard, Pastor of the Warrensburg Free Methodist Church officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Warrensburg Cemetery in the spring.
