Obituary of Yvonne Ruth MacNeill

Athol: Yvonne Ruth MacNeill, 84, of Athol Rd., passed away peacefully, Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at The Pines at Glens Falls. Born July 28, 1931 in Ticonderoga, she was the daughter of the late Basil and Gladys Miller. Yvonne was a graduate of Crown Point High School. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and community member. Being a matriarch of Thurman, she was involved in the Jack Wax Cancer dinners, and the Sugarloaf Senior Citizens, where she served as Treasurer, Secretary, and Trip Advisor throughout the years. She was also the Thurman Town Tax Collector and a 4-H leader for many years, helping initiate the horse shows at the Warren County Fairgrounds. In addition to her parents, Yvonne was predeceased by two sons, Franklin John and Craig Allen MacNeill, and two brothers, Dean and Robert Miller. She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Stephen H. MacNeill of Athol; a daughter, Stephanie Gossen, and her husband, Kenny, of Athol; two grandsons, Jeremy Gossen of Oregon, and Jason Gossen and his wife, Tasha, of Arizona; two great-grandchildren, Halie and Jason, Jr.; two sisters, Eleanor Pearson and Sally Abare. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and very special friends. Friends may call on Yvonne’s family from noon to 2 pm, Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Alexander Funeral Home, Inc., 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 2 pm, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Cameron Cemetery, Cameron Road, Athol.
