Obituary of Robert L. Wemett

Saratoga Springs: Robert L. Wemett, 84, of Saratoga, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the Home of The Good Shepherd. Born October 27, 1934 in Albany, he was the son of the late Douglas E. and Olga (Wagnar) Wemett. Bob was a US Navy veteran who served during the Korean War. On September 6, 1958, Bob married his wife, Catherine and the couple relocated to Schenectady. For many years, Bob was an electronic engineer for Nordon Systems in Norwalk Connecticut. In 1994, Robert and Catherine retired to North Creek, where they were very active in the community. The couple both enjoyed their time working at Gore Mt. Ski Center, where Bob loved teaching for the adaptive ski program. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by, his wife, Catherine, who passed away in 2011 after 52 years of marriage. Left behind to cherish his memory are his nieces and nephews: Michele DeForge of MD; Charles Oliver of Mechanicville; Christine Urschel of Voorheesville; Mary O’Brien of FL; Mark VanDenburgh of Broadalbin; Michael VanDenburgh of Schenectady; Sue Ann Clothier of Queensbury; Edward Mathews of CT; Sandra Curtis of CT; David Mathews of CT; Denise Buckley of CT; Faith Patterson of SC; Brett Wemett of SC; Cheryl Owens of SC; along with several great nieces and nephews. His special companion, Tina Okma of Prestwick Chase, Saratoga Springs, predeceased him in July of 2018. Friends may call on Bob’s family from 11 am – 12 pm Tuesday, Feb. 5 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 389 Main St., Warrensburg, NY. A service to celebrate Bob’s life will follow the visitation at 12 noon. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
