Obituary of Clifford W. Parsons

Warrensburg: Clifford W. Parsons, 82, of Library Ave., passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009 at the Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born September 16, 1926 in South Glens Falls, he was the stepson of Isabelle Parsons of Queensbury and the late Clifford C. Parsons. At the age of 17, Cliff enlisted in the US Navy and served his Country during WW II and was called up again during the Korean War. He began his working years at the family gas and oil business, Parson’s Oil Co. in Glens Falls. He worked for over 30 years with Whiteman Chevrolet in Glens Falls, retiring as Service Manager. He continued working for another 10 years at the Sagamore Resort golf course in Bolton Landing. He was a member of the Warrensburg First United Methodist Church and his favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, camping and his beloved shepherd, Tillie. Survivors include his former wife, Gisele “Zee” (Charlebois) Parsons of Glens Falls; his five children, Daniel Parsons and his wife, Gloria of Sidney, Margaret Forsyth and her husband, Jeff of Mebane, NC, Debra Steves and her husband, Jim of Syracuse, Ann Hughes and her husband, Richard of Queensbury, Maureen Sousa of Colchester, CT; three sisters, Mary Lou Vannier and her husband, Roger of Patten Mills, Barbara Kenny and her husband, Robert of Warrensburg, Patti Bannin and her husband, Richard of Queensbury; his aunt Lorraine Stevenson of CT; 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and his companion, Lutheria Pratt of Warrensburg. Friends may call on Cliff’s family from 5-7 pm Tuesday evening at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A memorial service with military honors will follow the visitation at 7 pm Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dawn Robbins, Pastor of the Warrensburg First United Methodist Church officiating. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the C.R. Wood Cancer Center of the Glens Falls Hospital.
