Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
North Creek: William “Bill” C. Cobb, Sr, 80, of North Creek, passed away, Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at his home after a long illness. Born May 5, 1930 in Madison, NC, he was the son of the late Dawson and Ada (Cutler) Cobb. Bill was a Navy man in his younger years during WW II by the time he met and married Barbara Tilford. He was a respected jeweler and watchmaker at Art Prescott’s jewelry store in North Creek. When Mr. Prescott retired, Bill bought the business and established his own reputation as a shrewd, knowledgeable businessman. He was also known for many years as a strict but beloved school bus driver with Johnsburg Central. Bill loved making things and being a “fix-it” man, especially if it saved money. His skills ranged from faceting gems and designing jewelry for his business, to building a family camping trailer. Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by, Barbara, his wife of 50 years, and his brother Wesley Cobb. He is survived by his children, Linda Cobb of Syracuse, Bill Cobb and his wife, Julie of Germantown, WI, Nancy Cobb-Zoll and her husband, Keith Zoll of Lake George; grandchildren, Zachary Zoll, Rachel and Will Cobb; brothers, Don and Burt Cobb and sister, Betty Baughn. The family would like to give special thanks to Vickie Amatuzzi and Richard Stewart for the time and care they provided for Bill in his last years. Bill lived a simple life and wished to be simply remembered. Keeping with Bill’s wishes, there will be no calling hours scheduled. Service will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Johnsburg EMS, North Creek, NY 12853 in recognition of the many times they assisted Bill.
