Obituary of Barbara A. Griffin

Warrensburg: Barbara A. Griffin, 67, of Library Avenue, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at the Glens Falls Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 2, 1943 in Nassau, Long Island, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine (Symanski) Nataro. Barbara grew up on Long Island until she moved to Warrensburg in the early 1970’s. She married, Duane T. Griffin on February 12, 1989 in Lake George. She was a very active member in the community, volunteering her time to the Warrensburg EMS. She was president of the Warrensburg EMS Auxiliary and an ambulance driver until her health started to fail, forcing her to resign. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her two sisters, Mary Lou Ziccardi and Joan Nataro. Barbara is survived by her husband of 21 years, Duane Griffin of Warrensburg; her daughter, Laura Mundy and grandson, Nicholas of Glens Falls; stepsons: Shane Griffin of Corinth and Bill Griffin and his son, Sgt. Daniel and his fiancée, Dee and her son, Michael all of Saratoga Springs; her stepdaughter, Sherry Tucker and her husband, Sonny and their son, Mikle; her step-granddaughters, Nikole and Sunnie Lee all of Johnsburg; step son, Brian Griffin of Glens Falls; nieces, Toni and Jamie and several great nieces of Columbia, SC; and cousin, Frank (Chic) Nataro of NJ. Barbara requested that there are no calling hours and funeral services be private and at the convenience of the family. A memorial celebration of her life will take place at the Warrensburg EMS building, 3 King Street, Warrensburg at a time to be announced in the near future. Barb was looking forward to attending the Cindy’s Retreat Benefit this Saturday, June 19 1-5 pm at the Stony Creek Inn. Her family encourages all to take part in her memory.
