Obituary of Elaine D. Sprague

Warrensburg:
Elaine D. Sprague, 82, of Oak Street, passed away peacefully, Sunday, May29, 2011 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born September 21, 1928 in Lake Luzerne, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Daisy (Cleveland) Ackley.
Elaine married George Sprague on September 23, 1947.
She worked at various locations in Warrensburg including the Colonial Arms and the Warrensburg Laundry, but her main job was caring for her family. Elaine was well known for her Apple pies.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her sisters: Genevieve Ackley and Marian Deniston; and brothers: Billy Ackley, Teddy Ackley, Louis Ackley and Jimmy Ackley; and sister in-law, Jean Ackley and son in law, Mack Greenwood.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 63 years, George W. Sprague Jr.; her six children: George W Sprague III of Warrensburg; Becky Greenwood of Stony Creek; Jerry Sprague and his wife, Maureen of Warrensburg; Kevin Sprague of Warrensburg; Lori Combs and her husband, Scott of Warrensburg; and Michael Sprague and his wife, Jodi of Watkins Glen; her sister, Eyvonne Johnson and her husband, John of Lake George; her brother, Ken Ackley and his wife, Chris; her sister in laws: Toots Ackley and Rita Ackley; her special sister in law, Louise Hall of Warrensburg; her six grandchildren: Terry Combs and his wife, Laura of Queensbury; Courtney Sprague and her companion, Jeremy Coon of Warrensburg; Kristin Sprague of Warrensburg ; David Greenwood of Stony Creek; Phil Greenwood of Bolton Landing; and Brandon Combs of Warrensburg; four great-grandchildren: Braley and Konnor Duell of Warrensburg and Landon and Avery Combs of Queensbury; Doni Lynn Combs of Wilton, who Elaine thought of as another granddaughter; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins, including one very special niece, Joann Dick, who she cherished deeply and well as special friend, Ann Vannier and her family and Elaine’s two dogs, Barney and Lexi.
Friends may call on Elaine’s family from 6 to 9 pm, Thursday evening, June 2, 2011 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
Members of the Warrensburg Volunteer Fire Co. will assemble at 7 pm Thursday during the visitation to pay their respects.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 11 am, Friday, June 3rd at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Warrensburg Cemetery.
Pall bearers will be her sons and grandsons: Jerry Sprague, Kevin Sprague, Mike Sprague, Terry Combs, Phil Greenwood, and Brandon Combs.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff on 3 West B Unit at the Glens Falls Hospital, for all there care for Elaine. A special thanks to Colleen, Jill, Tammy, Angel and Steve, and a big thank you to Tower 5 for special care given to Elaine. They would also like to thank Dr. D’agostine and Dr. Nevatia, for taking care of Elaine throughout her illness.
