Obituary of Alma Jane Sanders

Chestertown: Alma Jane Sanders, 65, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Glens Falls Hospital, following a long illness. Born March 15, 1950 in Riparius, she was the daughter of the late Truman and Viola (Tyrell) Fish. Alma was a wonderful mother, wife, friend, and homemaker, who enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, macramé, and always welcomed a good time. She married Robert R. Sanders on February 22, 1969 at the North Baptist Church in Olmstedville. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Charlotte, brothers, Herman, Alvin, and Stewart, and her father-in-law, Robert Sanders, Sr. She is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Robert Sanders of Chestertown; four children, Dawn LaCarte and her husband, John, Robert Sanders III, Daniel Sanders and his wife, Michelle, and Adam Sanders; six grandchildren, Daniel Sanders, Jr., Cara Sanders, Brooke LaCarte, David, Izik, and Oliver, Sanders; her siblings, Anna Mae Wells of Ticonderoga, Albert Fish of NC, Kevin Fish of Riparius, Alice Linebarier of FL, and Eleanor Hayes of FL; mother-in-law, Shirley Sanders of Ballston Spa, and a sister-in-law, Florence Fish. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Alma’s family from 5 to 6 pm, Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Alexander Funeral Home, Inc., 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate her life will immediately follow the visitation at 6 pm, Saturday, at the funeral home.
