Obituary of Thomas J. Wunschel

Thurman: Thomas J. “Wink” Wunschel, 57, of William Baker Road, passed away peacefully, Monday, November 7, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born March 16, 1954 in Point Pleasant, NJ, he was the son of Eleanor Leonard Wunschel of Saratoga and the late Carl Wunschel. Tom met Mary B. Ellsworth through friends while in New Jersey and the couple eventually wed on their property on William Baker Road on September 24, 1988. He loved restoring motorcycles and classic cars and could often be found tinkering in the garage. Tom worked for Schultz Construction Company for several years as a heavy equipment welder and later worked as a mobile welder for the local logging companies. Besides his father, he is predeceased by his sister, Jill Wunschel. He is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Mary Wunschel of Thurman; his son, Donald Ellsworth and his wife, Darlene of North Creek; his daughter, Delsey Ellsworth of North Creek; his grandchildren: Brian, Paula, and Emma Lee Ellsworth of North Creek; and David and Johnathan Simmes of Diamond Point; and Elizabeth and Nicholas McNutt of North Creek; great-grandson, Jesse; his siblings: Carl Wunschel and his wife, Diane of Tom’s River, NJ; Susan Gonzalez and her husband, Rene of NC; Beth Wunschel of Thurman; Laurie Scanniello and her husband, Steve of Annandale, NJ; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Thomas’ family from 6 to 8 pm, Thursday, November 10, 2011 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be conducted 11 am, Friday, at the funeral home with Fr. Paul Cox, officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Reynolds Cemetery, Thurman. Tom’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his wonderful doctors, Dr. John Rugge and Dr. Christopher Hoy for the loving care Tom received during his illness.
