Clara M. Roblee, 84, of Queensbury passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at the Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on March 15, 1925 in Minerva, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ethel (Ricketson) Mitchell.
Clara was a lifelong resident of the area and married Kenneth H. Roblee on June 8, 1946.
Clara was a member of the Minerva Baptist Church, and Christ Church in Glens Falls. She was also a member of the Merry Widows in Queensbury.
Following many years of service, she retired from the Minerva Central School.
She was a loving homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother.
Clara enjoyed going out shopping between being an avid traveler. She visited 48 states and three different countries during her lifetime. Clara was not the type of person who could sit still for very long.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband, Kenneth who passed away in 2006; and her siblings: Ruth, Dorothy, Helen, Thelma, Herbert, Ralph, and Roy.
Survivors include her daughters: Linda Dutra and her husband, Kevin of Fort Edward; Lorrie Babbel of Queensbury; her grandchildren: Chad Shine and his wife, Kim of Virginia; Traci Plude and her husband, Larry of Fort Edward; Joe Fuerst of Queensbury; Cindy Coulter and her husband, John of Queensbury; and Joshua Babbel and his wife, Alissa of New Jersey; her great-grandchildren: Alison and Emily Shine; Ryan and Ashley Plude; Brandon and Carter Coulter; and Alexis Babbel; her sister, Edith Mitchell of Jacksonville, FL; and brother, Wilfred Mitchell of Liberty, KY; along with several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 1 pm, Friday, February 5, 2010 at the Minerva Baptist Church, Minerva with the Rev. David Newkirk, officiating.
Friends may call on Clara’s family one hour prior to the service at the church.
Internment will be at the convenience of the family in the spring in the Minerva Baptist Cemetery.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may take the form of donations to the Minerva Baptist Church, Minerva, NY 12851.
