Obituary of David W. Juckett

Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Indian Lake: David Warren Juckett, 63, of Crow Hill Road, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 28, 2010 with his loving wife and family, including his faithful canine buddy "Jake", at his side. David fought hard and bravely against cancer after being diagnosed in October 2009 and never let it defeat him. His family surrounded him with love and were his primary care givers with the help of neighbors, Diane & Richie Bahlmann and Bennie & Judy Cummins who were always available no matter what the hour. David was born in Burlington, VT on September 24, 1946. He was the son of the late J. Walter and Elizabeth (Brown) Juckett. David was employed for 39 years at his family's business Sandy Hill Corporation in Hudson Falls. He also served as a Hudson Falls police officer and officer of the court of Hudson Falls for 12 years in addition to being a volunteer fireman for Charles R. Paris Hose Co. and first assistant chief of Kingsbury Hose Company. David also owned and operated Salmon Trout Charters, with his wife as first mate, on Lake George during the 1980's. David and Dawn designed and built a beautiful home in Indian Lake where they have resided since 2001. His love of the area began at age 4 when his father brought him to the Gooley Club property on Chain Lakes Road. He became a member in 1966 and was passionate about preserving the area for a future generation of hunters and fisherman. He knew so much of the history of this beautiful Adirondack area and it's people. He did everything he could to preserve and protect it. His friends of childhood were his friends throughout his life - the best of times were spent in their company, Bennie Cummins, Jim Gaulin, John Labourr and Paul Harkey. We were blessed to have their visits during David’s illness. Neighbors, Rich Bahlmann & Tim Husson also kept his spirits up during this time David said it best "I've had a great life, the most fun and the best of friends...no regrets." His family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Eric Pillemer and his staff for the exceptional care, comfort and sense of humor provided to David and his family during this time. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dawn of 23 years; his daughters: Lynn Alston of Sanford, NC; Laura Juckett of Greensboro, NC; step children: Kelley Baker of Queensbury and Michael Baker also of Queensbury; Stephan Baker of Romulus; Sharon Henry of Roswell, GA; and Tim Baker of Bandera, TX; his biological mom, Janet Thornton and husband, Eddie of Hannawah Falls; grandchildren: Amanda Ricketson, Amanda Baker, Brittany Pegg, Stephanie Glass, Alex Cavanagh, Brandon Baker, Byron Bills, Bryan Baker, Timmy Baker, Shane & Nick Baker, James Baker; and great grandchildren: Riley Cockman and Gracie Lemons. David is also survived by his sisters and brothers, Nancy Brown and her husband, Tom of Williston, VT; Suzanne Burlingam and her husband, Richard of Galway; Thomas Thornton and his wife, Joan of Clarion, IA; and Steven Thornton and his wife, Laurie of Colton. Friends may call on David’s family from 6-9 pm, Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be conducted 11 am, Wednesday at the funeral home with Sister Linda Hogan, Parish Life Director of St. Cecilia’s RC Church, officiating. Burial will take place in the Seeley Cemetery in Queensbury following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to SPCA or the NRA. To my love...after all that we've been through it all comes down to me & you. Forever meant to be together you and me after all (to be continued)...I Love You, Dawn.
