Obituary of Margaret M. French

Bolton Landing and Warrensburg:
Margaret M. French, 91, formerly of Valley Woods Rd., Bolton Landing and most recently of First Ave., Warrensburg , passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the Albany Medical Center following a short illness.
Born March 1, 1923 in Brant Lake, she was the daughter of the late Caleb and Lexie (Frasier) Smith.
Margaret was a lifelong resident of the area and married Wardner French on August 4, 1945.
Margaret and her husband were active members of the Bolton Landing Vol. Fire Co.
She spent many years as head housekeeper at various resorts on Lake George including the Sagamore Resort, Golden Sands and Twin Bay Village.
Her favorite pastimes included spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, tending to her flower gardens and various needlework. For the last 25 years, Margaret enjoyed her time socializing at Bill’s Restaurant in Warrensburg with her many friends. She was affectionately known by some as the mitten lady.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Besides her husband, Wardner, who passed away December 20, 1996 after 51 years of marriage; her daughter, Beverly Ann; two sisters, Isadora Persons and Nellie Brown; three brothers, George, Francis and Robert Smith; two grandsons, James Jr. and John Wallace; great granddaughters, Kristy and Sarah Mosher have also predeceased her.
Survivors include her daughter, Martha Wallace and her husband, James of Warrensburg; her brother, Ernest Smith and his wife, Karma of Thurman; her sister, Mary Jo Smith of TX; grandchildren, Melissa Templeton, Ginger Langworthy and her husband, Dana, Pamela Kenyon and her husband, Jes, and Charles Wallace and his wife, Michele; great grandchildren, Rebecca, Aaron, Evan, Brianne Templeton, Angela Kenyon, Jennifer Crosby and Robert Mosher, Rex Wallace, J.R. and Jeremy Wallace; great -great grandchildren, Nathan and Nicholas Ward, Sierra, Darren, and Logan Prosser and Seth and Kyle Weber, Landian Templeton, Sarah Mosher, Devin and Ian McNulty, James and Alex Wallace, Abigale, Amelia, and Joseph Wallace; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be conducted 1 PM Tuesday, Oct. 14th at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg with her close friend, Harold Moffitt officiating.
Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Bolton Rural Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
